Getting Over a Relationship:How to Get Over a Relationship Breakup

By Paul Lindquist

Getting over a relationship break up is probably one of the most stressful things you will ever have to go through. Most people have to deal with a break up at least once, but that provides little reassurance to those who are going through a break up right now.

Here is some help getting over a relationship breakup that you can use to pick up the pieces and move on with your life:

1. Re-organize your thoughts and feelings

An important first step to getting over a relationship breakup is to take some time to step away by yourself and re-organize your thoughts and feelings. You are likely feeling a myriad of emotions right now, and talking with other people and getting all kinds of different opinions is not always helpful.

2. Take a positive view of your ex

This may be hard. You definitely have some bad feelings towards your ex and about the relationship. In spite of that, a great move toward getting over a relationship breakup is to look positively at your ex.

Focus on the things he/she did right and maintain a good relationship with them. You never know, you may be able to reconcile in the future. Keeping a positive view of your ex and maintaining good relations with them will make future reconciliation a lot greater possibility-if that's what you want.

3. Do some work on making yourself better

Now that you have organized your thoughts and feelings and adopted a right view of your ex, the next step in the process of getting over a relationship break up is to take your mind off of the relationship and focus on doing things to make yourself better.

Think about getting involved with a hobby you always wanted to do, go out with friends, perhaps do some charity work. Do things that will make a positive change in your life.
